How Tweet It Is

My bird wall continues to grow with beaks and bounds.

This weekend, we added these guys:

And this pair:

And this fella:

Can anyone tell me what he is? I've been trying to figure it out. A pheasant? A chicken hawk? Any chalkware Ornithologists out there? Please give me your thoughts.

He's only the second addition to the bird wall that didn't come with a partner. I think the other single bird is happy to see him arrive.

I know that it's usually the male birds that are the most showy, but if you ask me, she's too dolled up to lie and say she's not interested in a little pheasant / chicken hawk / bachelor bird attention! We'll see how this plays out. I'm hoping that there will be a lot less drama and hot tub action than one sees on the typical "Bachelor" episode on TV.  One thing is for sure - I won't be allowing any of that "fantasy suite" action in my house.

Until next time,
x's and o's,
Eartha

I love that bird wall. And I especially love how cute your cat is!

I think it's a female pheasant based on the solid coloring. Maybe she had a mate at some point.
I love how the kitty is sitting in front of the bird wall. Perfect!

Thanks Lauren! He's still a kitten but HUGE.

MySpecialAgent: Aha! You may be right! Sounds like we've got two single LADY birds then.

I can't figure it out! Searches for "chalkware pheasant pair" and "chalkware hawk" don't turn up anything like your new bird. Based on the shape of the head and body (and all the taxidermy I saw at Grandpa's house when I was a kid), I think it might be a quail. No matter what it is, the wall looks great!

Suzy: It can happen to anyone. Buy one bird...and the rest seem to follow. : (

Jen: Thanks so much for searching for me! It does look like a quail. There is a good chance that you're right.

Your unidentified bird reminds me of my "sandpipers-in-seventies'-wall-hanging-that-I-had-been-calling-partridges-for-years" incident ((hangs head in shame)). One thing I know: I do not know much about birds. Another thing I know: I love the cheery blue of this wall, all the birds on it, and your kitty's expression ("Who? Me?").

That Mister Kitten Pants is quite the model! What a cutie. And I love the bird wall...the aqua color is perfect and it's just such a fun way to display a collection.

I have a similar fascination with glass birds. What is it with birds anyway? You wouldn't believe how many I have in my eBay watch list right now. You're getting quite a collection there. So cute and cheery!

True story: I have a major bird phobia...but these are adorable bc i don't feel like they are gonna claw my eyes out. :)

Those are just too cute. Love the blue wall behind them. And the curtain in the window. And the kittie on the stool. How are you attaching those to the wall? I'd be afraid of them falling off?

Love your bird wall.....I'm guessing it'll start looking like my mermaid wall right quick! :)

I believe it is a quail. I love the bird wall-especially with a bold kitty sitting right below it!! I can just hear him/or her saying: "Ohhhhh, if only they were real..."!!!

I think that little brown mystery bird may be a quail? Cute collection!

What an awesome idea! I bet you have the most awesome home, Eartha :)

Ha, this is such fun. Kitty looks slightly scared what with being outnumbered!

The birds are amazing but my very favorite part is the painted brick wall! I am a sucker for painted brick and that shade of aqua is particularly thrilling!

Your cat should be in pictures!!! What a cutey. Honestly, your photo up top is most excellent. Award winning in my opinion. I think the mystery bird is pheasant too. A little plumper and less dazzling so obviously girl pheasant. haha.

Ohhh I love the bird wall! I think my mom had a set of those pheasants. I have a bird wall of sorts with pictures. It started out with a wooden owl plaque I got at the Sal Army. Then I found a blue jay greeting card at another thrift for a quarter. I put it in a 50 cent yard sale frame and hung it beneath the owl. Lastly I have an owl illustration from a calendar in a dollar store frame.

Mr. Kittenpants sure is a good model. He must be taking the Vanna White online course.

Your bird wall is ace! And your first photo, with kitty on the chair: "do you think I can reach them from here?"

That's a great artistic photo of the bird wall and kitty.

That is a great idea- I have lots of chalkware but never thought to group them like that. I would say that bird is a grouse- a bit bigger than a quail.

Our house is sorely lacking a bird wall
